July 4th and Beyond

Good times this past month! We had guests every weekend in July and made a quick trip to Idaho. Lots of fun with good friends and family.

Scott's B-Day Weekend

We celebrated Scott's b-day on the 4th with Casey's college roommate Adrienne and her husband Andrew, visiting from Dallas. We waded in Boulder Creek and checked out Boulder's Pearl Street.

We were a bit un-American having bratwurst and German potato salad for dinner. But we did get fireworks in.

Casey's Mom Visits

Casey's mom and friend Gary visited. They totally got into the Boulder scene, buying up fruits and veggies at the farmer's market and even biking! We also toured the Coors brewery in Golden. Great on a hot summer day. You get 3 free beers, but we're all lightweights (and the lines were long), so no one hit the limit.

Mom literally got compliments from neighbor kids on this rental bike!

Progress at home
Somehow, this house is encouraging our pets - long separated by species - to mix a bit more. We have been shocked. Aspen's nose has been bloody for a couple of weeks as she learns how close she can get to the cats.

A hike near our house in Boulder, at Marshall Mesa. From left, Sharon, Lauren (back), Sarah, Gordon, Casey.

Canoeing and kayaking at Lake Estes.

Sarah loved hand feeding peanuts to the chipmunks after we rode the tram to the top of a mountain.

A scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Scott!

The hills are alive....! Lauren and Casey played Sound of Music.

Pearl Street Mile

Scott ran a 1-mile race in Boulder on July 31, called the Pearl Street Mile. He clocked his best mile time ever in 5:54. A photo.

Trip to Idaho, August 1-3

We made a very quick trip to Idaho for the funeral services for Scott's grandmother, Patricia Margaret Joyce Cox (aka Grandma). It was a lovely service and so nice to see all of Scott's brothers and cousins, and their kids.

4 Brothers: Nate, Mike, Dave, Scott

All 15 cousins in one place for the first time since they were kids.

Little man: It was sunny for our nephew Aiden, nearly 3.
