Frozen Dead Guy Days

Nico, my family's exchange student from 21 years ago, stayed with us during his 3-week internship at Boulder High School. (He's studying to be a teacher.)

We tried to entertain him with truly American/Colorado fun.

Early on, it was the Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland, CO. For 10 years, this mountain town outside Boulder has held a festival celebrating a local "resident" that has been cryogenically frozen in a Tuff Shed in his family's back yard. Not kidding. They add dried ice to "Grandpa" every three weeks!

Now it's a cause for a big weekend festival, complete with hearse parades, frozen turkey bowling and coffin races.

The highlight was the Frozen T-Shirt Contest. Whoever could get a frozen, folded t-shirt on themselves first (over their clothes) won! In our case, it was Scott and Lisa - who each won a free ski lift ticket voucher. Impressive skills!
Check out the real footage below.
